dc.descriptionEl bailarín y coreógrafo afrobrasileño Ismael Ivo (1955-2021) fue una de las figuras más destacadas en la danza experimental de los últimos cuarenta años. En este trabajo propongo analizar la obra de Ivo con relación a sus aportes a los estudios corporales que se pueden derivar desde sus creaciones artísticas. Las fuentes que sostienen el trabajo son originales y provienen de dos importantes archivos de Alemania. El marco teórico general constituye la fenomenología, ya que encuadra en el pensamiento corporal del artista utilizando el escenario para crear momentos de profundidad existencial, donde la transculturalidad va a ser un aspecto crucial. Como conclusión, sugiero considerar su concepto de la codificación de la experiencia humana como categoría útil para los estudios sociales de la danza.
dc.descriptionThe Afro-Brazilian dancer and choreographer Ismael Ivo (1955-2021) was one of the most outstanding figures in experimental dance of the last forty years. In this paper, I analyze Ivo’s work in relation to his contributions to the cultural studies of the body that can be derived from his artistic production. The sources on which the work is based are original and come from two important archives in Germany. The general theoretical framework is phenomenology, as it frames the bodily thinking of the artist who uses the stage to create moments of existential depth in which transculturality will be a crucial aspect. As conclusion, I propose to consider the concept of codification of human experience as a useful category for social studies of dance.
